Research, practice and teaching across art, design, fashion, media and communication.
Recent practice-led research explored cognitive aspects of pictorial address, using insights from experimental psychology to understand how the style, structure and content of pictorial artworks afford particular kinds of spectatorship. I am currently extending insights towards a theoretical position on consumer engagement with fashion advertisements. A second body of research underway explores the conceptual frameworks that practitioners use when conceptualizing and designing non-retail fashion brand spaces.
With a professional background in fashion media and communication, I obtained a PhD from Winchester School of Art (University of Southampton) and hold an MFA from School of Visual Arts in New York.
I currently work as a full-time Assistant Professor of Fashion Communication at Parsons School of Design, The New School University. Previously, I directed the BA (Hons) Creative Direction for Fashion degree at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts London, where I also lectured on visual communication for fashion.
